x 2011 Certified Portfolio Manager Program

The Certified Portfolio Manager (CPM) ® designation is sponsored by the Academy of Certified Portfolio Managers and Columbia University in New York City.  The academic component of the credentialing process is designed by the Curriculum Committee of ACPM to provide a deeper understanding of fundamental security analysis, asset allocation, and portfolio management concepts. The modules to be completed encompass core finance concepts that include: Quantitative Methods, Financial Statement Analysis, Corporate Finance, Fixed Income Analysis, Equity Analysis, Derivatives, and Portfolio Management.

Learning outcome modules have been selected by the Curriculum Committee and approved by the Board of Directors of ACPM. These web-based, self-learning, exercises are designed by the financial industry education provider, Zoologic, a subsidiary SS&C Technologies Inc.

It is anticipated that each candidate beginning in late summer of 2010, will be spending an average of 6 hours per week, could complete the course work over a 7 to 8 month period, followed by an onsite in New York at Columbia University May 23-27, 2011.  All candidates must finish the online curriculum by April 30, 2011.


Important Information:

Those who sign up for the online curriculum will be allowed a 30 day “free look” to evaluate whether they want to complete the course.  Should they opt out during that time period, they will receive a refund less a cancellation fee of $350. All opt outs/cancellations must be made in writing to Executive Director Jesse Haynes at jesse.haynes@academyofcpm.org Finally, there will be tutoring available (for additional cost) throughout the program.  Any candidate involved in the program will have the ability to finish it as long as they are willing to put in the time.

Eligibility criteria for CPM® candidates is as follows:

1. 5 yrs minimum experience, series 7 licensed

2. $10MM AUM in a Discretionary Asset Management Program

3. Certification by a supervising compliance officer that the candidate has a clean compliance record

Exceptions - all exceptions shall be reviewed by the secretary. The secretary shall bring exceptions of merit before the board, and a 2/3 affirmative vote of the board of directors shall be required to grant exceptions to CPM candidates.
